 Some think the buy-in amount needs to coincide with the value of chips distributed at the beginning of play. We think those two factors can and should be independent of each other. With our Blind Bet denominations, there is no need to assign monetary worth to individual chips, while still clearly marking their relative values. Simply decide your buy-in and re-buy amounts and distributions prior to game play. You can choose any buy-in amount whether you want a low stakes night with family or a higher stakes night with friends. Then determine your chip distributions.  Start with the white 1 chip as the small blind and the red 2 chip as the big blind. This is referred to as a 1/2 blind structure. Each time you increase blinds, simply double the blind structure (2/4, 4/8…). Cash in your smaller denominations for larger ones as needed to reduce your chip counts. Blind progression can be done in a variety of ways. Some play a predetermined time with starting blinds, then “color-up” the blinds at time-based intervals. For example, play 1/2 blinds for one hour then increase blinds every 15 minutes, no re-buys after the 1st hour, for a two-to-three-hour game. Another approach is to increase the blinds after each player is eliminated from play. To finish off a long running games, simply increase blinds frequently and watch the black chips fly.
